Our Story
Established with a vision to transform the African creative landscape, Insights Out Africa is dedicated to promoting research by Africans, for Africans. We believe that the key to unlocking the full potential of the CCIs lies in evidence-based decision-making and strategic investments.
Insights Out Africa is an initiative to foster the growth and development of Creative and Cultural Industries (CCIs) across Africa by investing in insightful and actionable research led by African voices and perspectives.
Our Vision
Insights Out Africa strives to promote more research about Africa’s CCIs, conducted by Africans, for Africans, with the intention of influencing the policy and investment landscape. The project also aims to underscore the value of CCIs as a driver of socioeconomic growth and sustainable development in Africa, and to strengthen policies and practices in the industry by providing sector stakeholders and support organisations with actionable data.
Our Mission
Insights Out Africa is committed to enhancing research about CCIs in Africa and increasing accessibility to such research. It aims to provide a repository of relevant, fresh information on opportunities within the creative and cultural sectors, thereby powering evidence-led investment in the creative sectors in Africa. The project also seeks to improve the capacity of creative sector stakeholders in conducting and implementing strategic research and to provide new, accurate, tangible, and actionable data that redefines CCI data access across African countries for all sector stakeholders.
The Research Team
This initiative is powered by the British Council which has convened a consortium of leading creative economy experts: Andani Africa, Creative Economy Practice at CcHUB, HEVA Fund, and Tom Fleming Creative Consultancy (TFCC). All are committed to driving positive change in Africa’s creative economy.
Our Impact
Insights Out Africa is dedicated to creating more visibility for CCI research about Africa by Africans, supporting a research environment for the CCIs in Africa, and encouraging more evidence-based policymaking and investments.
The project expects to make these outputs more digestible, accessible, and visible and increase the understanding and use of research to inform policy decisions and programme design to unlock new support and opportunities for sector growth.
